Pearls, Rosebud Baroque White, 10-12mm
Our pearl maven at Nomad loves baroques - crinkled, wrinkled pearls with fascinating and unique shapes. These are the type called 'rosebud', roughly round or pear-shaped with a surface texture reminiscent of tightly-furled petals.
Each 13.5" strand is lightly graduated, with the largest pearls measuring around 12mm and the smallest about 10mm. The bead count varies with size between 32-37 beads per strand. These should accommodate a size 6 or 8 thread, and when knotted with a clasp should measure about 16-18".
Pearls were once counted among the most precious of all jewels, and natural pearls remain rare beyond compare. These cultured pearls, each one starting with a shell bead at its core, are allowed to grow inside a freshwater mussel for anywhere from one to three years.
